Richard Buckner - Dunkirk, Indiana producer and host of the FTA Show Richard Buckner was born in 1952 in Muncie, Indiana. Now retired from the U.S. Marines, where he was stationed all over the world from 1970 to 1995. Rick retired from the Marines after serving in the military for 25 years which included the periods of the Viet Nam Conflict, Panama Canal Conflict and the early years of the Gulf War Conflict. Coming from a Marine Family background Rick's father served in the Marines in Korea and his younger brother and sister were both career Marines. While in the military Rick served as a Aviation Ordnance Technician, a Helicopter Door Gunner, A Public Affairs Officer, A Nuclear-Biological & Chemical Warfare Specialist, and M113 Armored Personnel Carrier Track Commander. Later on he received extended military and civilian technical training in computer hardware and software. In his last assignment as a GS-11 Senior Systems Programmer Analyst as the NCOIC for the Military Department of Indiana's Information Management Directorate that lasted nearly 12 years, he was responsible for 600 PC and the training of 16,000 military personnel in automation security, management, maintenance and programming. While in the military Rick got the radio bug and worked with AFRTS - Armed Forces Radio & Television Service where he was a radio announcer on board the U.S.S. Coronado, the U.S.S. Francis Marion and the U.S.S. Inchon. While state side he was an announcer for AFRTS at Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. Rick is also a Amateur Radio Operator holding the FCC assigned call sign of KC9KHN. In civilian life Rick has worked at several civilian radio stations such as WERK and WLBC in Muncie, Indiana. A successful businessman Rick runs several businesses dealing with satellite equipment including USA Satellite Sales and FTA Satellite Sales in addition to a public domain movie business in which he has over 6700 DVD's and VHS as well as Beta Tapes of out of copyright movies and TV series which he supplies to Low Power TV Stations. Rick is also a web site designer and has handled a $16,000.00 a month advertising budget for 10 large tourist related lodging companies in the Pigeon Forge, Tennessee area since 1995. Rick's hobbies are Politics, Astronomy, Amateur Radio and Computers. In 2007 while operating FTA Satellite Sales Rick "met" Mr. Tim Heinrichs of DMS International and the rest is FTA Radio history. Rick is married and resides in Dunkirk, Indiana with his wife of 39 years, Sandra and their 4 outdoor cats Bandit, Biggie, Percy and TJ.
